| The airwing began flying
again today. It was sunny and clear, and even now, late
in the evening, it's still clear but moon lit with some
stars scattered about. You can see the fires off the oil
wells in the distance, but really, it's still
"blue" sky hanging over us. The temps were cool
and comfortable and the action on deck was fast and spine
tingling.
Rehabing the 123 Passage Way (P-way) and keeping most of the paint off them was Fireman Samuel Salts (below; left) from Newcaney, TX; DC3 Joseph Gurley (middle) from Parsons, TN; and DC3 Alfredo Amezlua from Riverside, CA.
The CAG Gunner (below) was directing the birds as they came in one after another. (Above) The picturesque flyby as the birds line up for recovery.
Well, today held everything from flying to Easter worship services... the city's underway again. |
![]() Cleaning bright work in the flag bag was SMSN Timothy Turner (left) from Florence, AL. The flag bag houses the signal flags used by the Signalmen in visual communications. "Best part of Indy has to be all the buddies I've made," Turner said. "I don't like being away from my family for so long, but I'm saving money and seeing the world." he said with a laugh. He's looking forward to taking leave to visit home soon he said.
Today I've mostly gathered shots upstairs, kinda get the action going again. But don't let these photos fool you, as much as there was going on on the flight deck, there was plenty more happening in the decks below. Check out Engineering shots in their updated Bulletin Board.
Airman Fred Warren (below) from Vallejo, CA was moving gear in one direction as the birds took to the skies in the other direction.
