| Another VERY hot day here. The morning sun rose
through a thick fog that it never managed to burn off all day. There wasn't much
wind today for flying, but the birds have been going at it all day despite the lack of
wind. Although it felt like a pretty busy day, it really didn't seem like too much
went on today. I think it's because everyone hid in their workspaces to soak up what
little air conditioning there was.
While on the bridge today, I had one last shot left in the camera, and Cramer (middle) made me feel guilty because his mother has entered the Ballcap Giveaway every week, but hasn't won... so, being the nice guy I am, I took their photo. (Below; left to right) Seaman Jorge Alfaro from Beaumont, TX. Seaman Apprentice Keegan Cramer from Westminster, MD. And BM3 (SW) Jason Rein from Ludington, MI.
Six of the new Senior Chiefs came from Carrier Air Wing FIVE, two came from DESRON and one from Flag. Today's Notepad is just a quick look at the Independence six.

Congratulation to our new Senior Chiefs. |
![]() No mail today, boo hoo. Well, maybe that means
there will be double tomorrow. Indy recently promoted sixteen new Senior Chiefs. Today, being witnessed by roughly more than 100 other chiefs and officers, seven of the chiefs were frocked and pinned by their shipmates.
