Lieutenant Commander James T. Loeblein, USN, is a native of Salisbury, North Carolina. He received his commission through the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland in May 1985.

At sea, Lieutenant Commander Loeblein completed his initial tour aboard USS MEYERKORD (FF 1058) from 1987 - 1990 where he served as Main Propulsion Assistant, Combat Information Center (CIC) Officer, and Chief Engineer Officer. Subsequently, he received orders to USS CONOLLY (DD 979) where he served as Chief Engineer Officer from 1993 - 1996. He is currently assigned as Executive Officer of USS JOHN S. MCCAIN (DDG 56).

Ashore, Lieutenant Commander Loeblein attended the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California from 1990 - 1992 where he earned a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. Additionally, he completed a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island in 1997.

Lieutenant Commander Loeblein's personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal with two gold stars, and the Navy Achievement Medal with two gold stars.
